MQBMQB / Villa Lena / Bulgari
In 2020 MQBMBQ (My Queer Blackness, My Black Queerness) launched an open call for Black Queer artists across the world in collaboration with the Tuscan artist residency Villa Lena. This cohort included artists Mallory Lowe, Leasho Johnson & Banji Chona hailing from Canada, The USA and Zambia respectively. The program was funded by Italian luxury brand Bulgari.
During this Residency, Banji Chona worked on the development of the first iteration of Ngoma zya Budima, which was exhibited at The Recovery Plan (BHMF) in Florence, Italy in December 2020.
