SESSION: The Spirit of Zamrock
Session, after a popular 70’s Zambian Rock event, is a pop-up showcase which looks to tap into and revive art as spirit, Zamrock as resistance, sonic freedom and an ancestral path of revolution within many microcosms.
The body of work uses a gathering of mixed media- soundscapes are used as time travelling vehicle to transmit the stories, innovations, technlogies and analogues of a society born out of the need to connect and reconnect dots of question and of meaning and those of acceptance, redirection and transformation. Archival images in form of newspaper clipping and articles occupy the space of the visual conduit. Taking us back to times of fuzz and revolution. A photobooth installation is representative of the new wave of archiving in the present day in order to fortify the culture of collecting.
