MATERIALS: Analogue Photos, Musila (red ochre), Acetate

Musila is a photo series of analogue photographs from the Chona family archive which have been layered in red ochre (Musila) and negative acetate prints. The piece celebrates the home as an archive and a repository of memory and information whilst challenging the place institutional archives take up in narrative construction.

Each of the photos are of close familial relatives or ancestors as a deliberate means to create space for their layered voices and influences within the personal sphere of the artist.
